Indian Media Still Does Not Get It

With nuke deal, world makes space for India-India-The Times of India:

"The most extraordinary part about the US Congress vote on the India nuclear agreement was not that it cleared the Senate with a higher

majority than the Hyde Act but that it took three hours of debate and a vote at a time when the Congress, indeed all of US, is focussed on one thing — the financial crisis and the bailout package. It’s this that made the vote more striking."

India Still Doesn’t Get It

Indrani Bagchi, an old hand, credits this deal is due to “the world is making space for India.”

It should have raised many ‘Indian’ eyebrows, when the US Congress, impeded the US-dollar bailout, but pushed through a nuclear deal so quickly. But, it seems that Indians believe that ‘never look at a gift horse, in the mouth.”

Dear Indrani, it is no “acknowledgment that the world is making space for India.” It is sheer self interest from the US. And of course, Indian self interest too.

The 2ndlook model for a Third currency Bloc is ready. Join in to review, participate, critique and develop the First Cut. While the need for a new global reserve currency has been evident, there is very little in the public sphere. The speed of events has clearly caught the BRICS and Third World napping - and unprepared. But, not 2ndlook - who, from the very beginning, proposed that the world should stop clinging to the Dollar-Euro skirts.
